This diskette also contains a Beta version of CLD ACCESS which supports the Pioneer CD-R devices. If you want to use this version, first install version 3.0.5 and then drag the CLD ACCESS control panel to the system folder.
Double click on the Installer to install the CD-ROM drivers under System 7.0. Detailed instructions are explained in Section 3,“Installing Drivers”, below.
B. CLD Menu is included in CLD Access.
Launch CLD Access from the Control Panel Folder, and you will see the “ROM Mount Controller” dialog box. Here you will find a check box to enable or disable CLD Menu. When it is enabled, you will see a small icon at the top right corner of the menu bar. You can click on this icon to access individual CD-ROMs loaded into the Pioneer CD-ROM Changer. The default is ON under System 7, so CLD Menu automatically loads on boot-up.
C. There is a new CD-audio player program, called “CLD Remote”. This can be used to access specific audio tracks on CD-Audio discs. See “CLD Remote Read Me” file and “Software Driver Installation Guide”, page 4-7 for instructions on using the “CLD Remote”.
D. Enhanced Multi-Mount function.
In the old version of CLD Access, the Multi-Mount mode resulted in many disc changes under System 7. With the new CLD Access, Multi-Mount mode only changes discs to access them.
3. Installing Drivers.
A. Installing Pioneer CD-ROM Changer Drivers for System 7 or later.
a-1. Remove unnecessary device drivers from the system folder. Other CD-ROM device drivers may cause conflicts so they should be removed. Apple CD-ROM drivers work fine with CLD Access.
a-2. Double click the “Installer” icon to launch the program.
a-3. You’ll see the “Easy Install” window. Click on the "Install" button. The Installer will copy all necessary files into the system folder. Restart the Macintosh after installation is complete.
a-4. Shut down the Macintosh, and with the Pioneer CD-ROM drive powered OFF, connect an Apple SCSI cable between the SCSI port on the Macintosh and the SCSI port on the Pioneer CD-ROM drive. (Set the Pioneer CD-ROM Changer SCSI ID to a number between 1 and 6).
a-5. Power-ON the Pioneer CD-ROM drive, then power-ON the Macintosh. The Pioneer CD-ROM drivers will load into RAM at start-up. You will see a small CD-ROM icon appear at the bottom of your screen as the computer boots-up. If this icon has an X through it, it may indicate that the CD-ROM Drive is not connected to the Macintosh or it is not powered-ON. Or it could indicate there is an INIT conflicts, and Pioneer CD-ROM driver can not load.
B. Installing Pioneer CD-ROM Changer Drivers for System 6.0.7 or before.
b-1. Copy the following five files into the system folder.
From the 6.0.7 folder:
• CLD Access 1.2
From the CD-ROM folder.
• Audio CD Access
• Foreign File Access
• High Sierra File Access
• ISO9660 File Access
b-2. Follow steps a-1, a-4 and a-5, described above. (Do not use the Installer program when installing files for System 6.0.7 and below.)
4. Notes on Installing a Pioneer CD-ROM Changer and An Apple CD-ROM Drive
A. Under System 6.0.7 or below
If you are using the Apple CD 150 or CD SC Plus, or CD SC along with the Pioneer CD-ROM Changer and running under System 6.0.7 or below, DO NOT install the Apple CD-ROM Device driver. If an Apple CD-ROM driver is installed, remove it. CLD Access 1.2 supports the Apple Drives listed above. If you are using the Pioneer CD-ROM Changer and the Apple CD-300 or CD-300i (for Power PC) or newer Apple CD-ROM drives and running under System 6.0.7 or below, drag CLD Access 3.0 and Apple CD-ROM Driver v 5.0, from the CD-ROM Folder on the diskette into your System Folder. CLD-Access 1.2 does not support newer Apple CD-ROM drives. Also, if you install CLD-Access 3.0 under system 6.0.7 or below enable MultiFinder and then restart. CLD-Access 3.0 will not change discs in regular Finder mode.
B. Under System 7.0 or above
If you are using an Apple CD-ROM drive along with the Pioneer CD-ROM Changer and running under System 7.0 or above, use the installer to properly insall CLD-Access 3.0 and make sure Apple CD-ROM Driver version 5.0.1 is installed.
5. Conflicts may be caused by the following software programs.
A. “AutoDubbler”
a-1. Move “AutoDubbler” software from the Control Panel Folder in the System Folder.
a-2. Make an Alias file of the “AutoDubbler”, then move it into the Control Panel Folder.
a-3. Move the “CLD Access” into the Extention Folder in the System Folder.
a-4. Make an Alias file of the “CLD Access”, then move it into the Control Panel Folder.
The System will then load the “CLD Access” into the RAM earlier than the "AutoDubbler".
B.“New Menu”
b-1. Move “New Menu” software from the Control Panel into the Extention Folder.
b-2. Make an Alias file of the “New Menu”, then move it into the Control Panel Folder.
b-3. Move the "CLD Access" into the Control Panel Folder as usual.
The System will then load the "New Menu" into the RAM earlier than “CLD Access”.
